Samsung’s Now Bar is already pretty useful for displaying sports scores for your favorite teams across practically every major league. Now, a new update is also building win probability right into your lock screen.
A pair of reports across social media over the weekend point to the added inclusion of win probability between sports teams, specifically shown prior to the beginning of a match (via SammyGuru). It doesn’t appear as though every league has it just yet, though; these posts specifically showcase a Championship matchup between Southampton and Wrexham and an MLB game between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. In both cases, these statistics were replaced by live updates after the match had begun.
These numbers, like the live updates themselves, are pulled from Google Sports, meaning any supported data should be capable of appearing for various leagues as their seasons begin. Win probability can be a useful measure for both betting purposes and for getting caught up on the expected outcome of a specific match, but simultaneously, can mean very little once the game is actually underway — just ask Atlanta Falcons fans how they feel about 28-3 nearly a decade later.
With posts from both US and UK residents, it doesn’t seem like this is a geo-restricted update, and should be rolling out to all One UI 7 and 8 devices soon.
