After some murmurs of the function appearing over the past week or so, the AI-powered “Jump Ahead” feature for YouTube is now appearing more widely on Android TV.
The Premium perk, which allows you to skip certain portions of videos based on other viewers’ interactions, is now available on more than just a handful of users’ accounts. On desktop or mobile, you’ll get an interactive button that allows you to skip past specific sections — like a sponsor section or ad read — but on TV, it works a little differently.
For those with remotes, scrubbing forward through the timeline shows an upper-right toast message. If you tap again it’ll show a “Jumping over commonly skipped section” message and take you to timeline section corresponding with where other viewers ended up. Initial reports from last week were limited, but over the past 24-48 hours we’re now seeing it on more accounts.

There is a slight knack to getting the activation just right. You can hold the button on your remote to scrub through a video timeline like normal. However, in our testing so far, a quick double-tap seems to be the best method to activate the Jump Ahead option. Google’s own support pages list that you should see a “dot” appear on the playback progress bar to indicate where the skip will take you. However, we haven’t seen this option or any other controls, as noted by the official documentation.
For now the Jump Ahead option is limited to those with YouTube Premium subscriptions with no word on if or when it might be made available more widely.
