Samsung’s clamshell might have held the spotlight more recently, but that doesn’t mean Motorola is taking the challenge lying down. Months after releasing its latest Razr lineup, the brand has partnered with jewelry brand Swarovski to create a flashier variant of its most affordable foldable — and Motorola says this is only the beginning.
Motorola’s new partnership has created something called “The Brilliant Collection,” which includes bedazzled variants of the Moto Razr (2025) and Moto Buds Loop. Both feature embedded Swarovski crystals scattered around their respective designs; the Razr features 35 “hand-positioned” jewels in a “3D quilted pattern” on Pantone’s new Ice Melt colorway, while the Moto Buds Loop not include an arrangement of gems along each bud’s curved ring. The Razr also uses a faux-leather finish, sticking with Motorola’s recent trend of utilizing unique materials for the lineup.

Perhaps more exciting than this announcement, though, is the promise of more to come. The company says this is the start of a series called “Motorola Collections,” described as “curated sets of devices tied together by a unifying theme.” In this case, that theme appears to be a combination of technology and jewelry. I can’t say the company hasn’t pulled it off; perhaps outside its various pink-hued Razrs, nothing has quite struck the look of early 2000s technology more so than these bejeweled gadgets.
Aside from the new style here, nothing’s actually changed about either gadget. This year’s entry-level Razr is a surprisingly solid package; I’d go as far as to say it’s the one to buy over either of Motorola’s more expensive models. Meanwhile, the Moto Buds Loop are open-ear buds that allow users to directly hear the environment around them. It’s a form factor traditionally best fit for activities like running, though this style doesn’t exactly scream fitness.

There’s no hint yet as to what the next Motorola Collection might be — or when we might get to see it — but the Brilliant Collection is launching in just a couple of days. The Swarovski-decorated Moto Razr and Moto Buds Loop will go up for sale on August 7 through Best Buy, Amazon, and Motorola.com, sold in a combo pack for $1,000. Despite their crystalized appearance, that’s actually the same price as if you purchased both gadgets at full price sold separately. Not too shabby, if you’re looking to add a touch of sparkle to your tech.
