Gemini Live gets improved video resolution on Android, removing swipe

Google is rolling out a handful of tweaks to Gemini Live on Android, including improved video resolution when using the Project Astra-powered capability.

Google says “some” Android users reported “blurry video” in Gemini Live, which could impact conversation quality. As of Thursday, a “fix that improves your camera resolution” has now been rolled out.

If you’re still experiencing a problem, please let us know by sending feedback and include as much detail as possible for us to work on it.

You can do so by tapping the profile menu and hitting “Feedback” at the very bottom.

In other changes, we’ve noticed that the left swipe to quickly launch Gemini Live is no longer available on our Android devices. You could do this on the Gemini app’s homescreen and inside text chats. While convenient, I’ve accidentally invoked Live a couple of times since it was introduced in June. The button in the bottom-right corner remains available.

Finally, Google has tweaked the Gemini Live waveform to remove the purple hues in the beta channel. To our eye, the glow is now a brighter, more vibrant blue. This matches the updated “Hello” greeting on the homepage, and the four-color logo. The change is not in the stable channel yet.

Old vs. new
