Here are the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic boosted trade-in values

The Galaxy Watch 8 series offers a lot, whether you think it looks fantastic or not. Samsung’s pre-order event has Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic trade-in values boosted for a limited time. Here are the big takeaways.

What’s new?

The Galaxy Watch 8 takes on a completely new design this year, and it has been nothing if not attention-grabbing. Samsung has opted for a new cushion design that melds the classic circle with a more square profile. On the Galaxy Watch 8, the design change brings a new perspective to the activity tracker with Wear OS 6.

The Watch 8 Classic, on the other hand, revives the beloved rotating bezel with the same profile. It isn’t the never-ending battery powerhouse that the Watch Ultra is, but it still offers Samsung’s One UI experience with the classic look.

Both watches offer Samsung’s new dynamic lug system and bring some of Samsung’s new features like Vascular load measurements and Bedtime Guidance for sleep. The devices also offer Google Gemini by default, which takes the place of Google Assistant.

Overall, the two watches look like a good generational upgrade for the price.

Galaxy Watch 8 trade-in values

The Galaxy Watch 8 comes in at $429 while the Watch 8 Classic hits $499. That’s nothing compared to the $649 of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, including the new model, but it’s still up there.

The good news is that if you own a Galaxy Watch of a previous year, you’re likely going to get a boosted trade-in credit that’s much more generous than any other time of the year.

Samsung’s trade-in values vary depending on the watch you’re buying. For the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, your devices are going to go a little farther for the upgrade.

On the Galaxy Watch 8, it looks like Samsung is offering up to $200 for previous models, up from around $100. If you bought your Watch 7 last year, you might be able to get $200 off of the Watch 8, bringing it down to $179.

Values vary depending on year, but here are a few examples…

Trading for a Galaxy Watch 8

DeviceValue
Galaxy Watch 7$200
Galaxy Watch 6 Classic$200
Galaxy Watch 6$175
Galaxy Watch 5 Pro$175
Galaxy Watch 5$150
Galaxy Watch 4 Classic$150
Galaxy Watch 4$125
Galaxy Watch 3$100

Trading for a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic

DeviceValue
Galaxy Watch 7$200
Galaxy Watch 6 Classic$250
Galaxy Watch 6$150
Galaxy Watch 5 Pro$250
Galaxy Watch 5$150
Galaxy Watch 4 Classic$200
Galaxy Watch 4$150
Galaxy Watch 3$125

The last set of values is a little interesting. Samsung is obviously offering more for the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic when you trade something in, but it’s boosted values for other Classic models. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is $50 more valuable for this year’s Classic edition, and so is the Watch 4 Classic. If you’re trading in a Watch 5 Pro, consider doing it for the Watch 8 Classic simply because you’re getting $250 with $75 more in your pocket.

In any case, the Galaxy Watch 8 can come down quite a bit with a trade-in, and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is half the price with some models traded, making it a pretty decent deal if you’re looking to upgrade.

Samsung’s pre-order phase doesn’t last long, so there’s no telling how long these trade-in values will stay this high. Using 9toGoogle’s links also gets you an additional $50 credit, but only for 30 minutes after clicking.
