Gemini overlay rolling out four-color glow on Android [U]

Gemini’s updated color branding is continuing to roll out on Android with an updated glow animation for the system-wide overlay.

Update 8/6: The four-color glow is widely rolling out to Google app beta (16.30) users. There are actually two stages to this new animation. You get all four at launch, but it then just becomes blue.

Original 7/8: Google is replacing blue-purple glow around the Gemini overlay with a red, yellow, green, and blue gradient. Blue looks to be the predominant color for a much lighter interface.

The ring around the voice input microphone is also now light blue.

These updated Gemini overlay colors are not widely rolled out as of today. It’s not available on any of the devices we checked. Similarly, the updated blue greeting remains limited to the Google app beta on Android.

Google has widely rolled out the new Gemini icon to Android and iOS homescreens as of last week. These changes are not yet available on the web

This overlay change comes as some Gemini advertising, especially from third-party phone makers, has long used the four colors to make obvious the Google connection/origin. Also note how it’s always “Google Gemini” in promo images.
