According to a new report, Google’s base Pixel 10 is getting a bigger battery and faster wireless charging courtesy of “Qi2.”
Android Headlines, building on an early Pixel 10 series display leak earlier today, has broken down the specs of the base Pixel 10 citing their own sources.
The report details a 6.3-inch FHD+ display for the base Pixel 10 with peak brightness of 3,000 nits, matching Google’s claim for the Pixel 9 Pro duo last year, and up from 2,700 nits on the base Pixel 9. The report goes on to mention Tensor G5 (without a vapor chamber, like the base Pixel 9), 12GB of RAM, 128GB/256GB of storage, and the updated camera setup – 48MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 10.5MP front-facing, and the new arrival of a 10.8MP telephoto as had been mentioned previously.
Also mentioned is a battery increase. The base Pixel 10 will apparently have a 4,970 mAh battery, up from 4,700 mAh on last year’s base Pixel 9.
The other notable mention here is the charging speed. Wired charging gets a slight bump from 27W to 29W, but wireless charging jumps up to 15W. The base Pixel 9 could already charge at this speed wirelessly, but only on the Pixel Stand (which Google stopped selling a month after Pixel 9 launched). Regular Qi chargers were limited to 12W. Faster 15W speeds on Pixel 10 will apparently work through “Qi2 Wireless Charging,” but we still don’t know if the magnets for alignment there are baked into the phone itself or if a case is required. Android Headlines previously speculated that the use of magnets in Google’s official cases proved that the phones wouldn’t have built-in magnets, but the explicit mention of “Qi2 Wireless Charging” in this most recent report (from the same publication) seems to suggest otherwise.
Whatever the case, this all sounds pretty good.
The Pixel 10 series is expected to launch in late August.
