Google has been showing off its prototype Android XR glasses a lot as of late, and a new image shows off the companion app that looks like what we know from Pixel Watch, while also referring to the glasses as “Martha.”
First breaking cover late last year and having since been used in multiple in-person demos, Google’s prototype Android XR glasses haven’t been given a name yet. Apparently, though, they might be called “Martha” internally, as a new image shows Google’s app fro the Android XR glasses.
The app, shown in a photo that was spotted by SERoundtable, refers to the glasses as “Google Martha” with a second line again using the “Martha” name in an indicator that sure makes it look like a codename for the device. This comes from a demo of the glasses back at I/O, but the “Martha” name hadn’t been noted prior to this.
The app itself looks like a bare-bones version of the Pixel Watch app, with the same basic layout. Sections in the app include:
- Notifications
- Settings
- Record your view
- Give quick feedback
- Report a problem
It’s pretty obvious this is an unfinished app just meant for those who are testing the glasses (who I’m supremely jealous of), but it’s also funny to see that Google essentially used the bones of the Pixel Watch app to make it.
These glasses are, again, just a prototype for the time being, but they’re said to be the foundation of a pair of glasses that Samsung will release next year.
