The Nothing Phone (1) is on its last year of software support and, before closing up shop, the device has just picked up one of Android 15’s core features in Private Space – or at least Nothing’s take on it.
In a new update rolling out now, the original Nothing Phone (1) is getting perhaps its last major feature addition. Android 15’s Private Space is now available on Nothing Phone (1), rounding out the larger update that initially rolled out early this year.
Private Space, as a refresher, allows users to place certain apps within a portion of the software that requires additional authentication to access. That “secret compartment,” as we previously described it, can include its own Google account and isolates your data from other apps on your phone.
On Nothing Phone (1), “Privacy space” lives in the app drawer and is accessible with a swipe, and works similarly to how Private Space works on Pixel phones.
Beyond that, Nothing Phone (1) is also adding an upgraded Hotspot Manager, the June 2025 security patch, and various fixes. The full changelog follows:
New Features
- Introducing Privacy space: Swipe right in the app drawer for quick and easy access to your secure zone.
- You can now set a separate privacy password for both App Locker and Privacy space.
- Hotspot Manager: Easily manage devices connected to your hotspot.
Other Improvements
- Fixed issue with incorrect light strip display when playing music in Glyph Composer.
- Use the touch feedback toggle in Settings to disable the face unlock vibration for the lock screen.
- Updated to Android security patch for June.
- Fixed accessibility issues in Launcher, Gallery and other apps.
- General bug fixes and stability enhancements.
Notes:
The device may experience temporary overheating and increased power consumption during the upgrade and will quickly return to normal after the upgrade is complete.
Nothing Phone (1) has a few more promised updates, but it’s coming to the end. Meanwhile, Phone (3) debuts next week.
