Galaxy Z Fold 7 leaks in first official-looking renders with thin design, slick blue color [Gallery]

The next Galaxy Unpacked should be right around the corner, and a new leak is showing off exactly how thin Samsung’s redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 7 actually looks.

Today’s renders come from OnLeaks and Android Headlines, showcasing a pretty standard evolution in Samsung’s Z-series designs — until, that is, you look at its profile. While it’s difficult to say exactly how thick the Z Fold 7 actually is, it appears significantly slimmer than its 12.1mm predecessor. While it’s difficult to compare without holding the actual device itself, previous leaks pointed to a 3.9mm chassis when unfolded, something even slimmer than last year’s region-limited Galaxy Z Fold SE, and that could very well be the case here.

Regardless of exact dimensions, this wildly-protruding lens makes one thing clear: This is a much slimmer, more modern foldable than Samsung’s ever released, which could be why it started teasing an “Ultra”-branded experience earlier this month.

Aside from the slimmed-down chassis, the entire phone appears wider and, once again, more in-line with rival foldables from companies like Google and OnePlus. That same leak that pointed towards an ultra-thin chassis also saw Samsung expanding the width of the Fold 7 by more than 10mm compared to the Fold 6, which should finally make for a more standard — and more comfortable — external display experience.

Outside of this new design, it’s this stunning blue shade that’s catching my attention. While the black colorway is exactly what you’d expect from a Samsung phone, this metallic “Blue Shadow” model looks to add a nice pop of color to a year in which the company needs it. With a recent focus on various shades of silver, white, and black, it’s great to actually see a deep, saturated color on one of Samsung’s most premium phones. Android Headlines says it’s also coming in additional colors.

We’re expecting Samsung to take the stage in New York on July 9th to announce the Galaxy Fold 7, right alongside the Galaxy Flip 7 and the Galaxy Watch 8 series.

Meanwhile, another leak shows off the Galaxy Z Flip 7 for the first time with its new, full-size cover display.
