Google is apparently finally ready to adopt magnetic charging in the Pixel 10, but its Qi2 support will apparently not be baked into the actual hardware.
It was reported earlier this week that Google will be launching “Pixelsnap” accessories for the Pixel 10 series later this year, based on the upcoming Qi 2.2 spec. This would bring magnetic charging as well as faster charging speeds, with Google also releasing several accessories.
A second report from Android Headlines adds further context, and also hints that the magnets won’t be built into the actual phone.
This latest report claims that Google will release its own line of cases with built-in magnets for charging alignment and accessories, while “Made for Google” partners will also do the same. Several of Google’s accessory partners have already adopted MagSafe-style magnets, but this new effort would apparently fall under the “Pixelsnap” branding.

I know I am going to be one of the only few people who actually cares about this but I hope google will centralise the "G" logo on the back with the charging ring so it looks prettier when in a clear case - it has been driving me nuts for years
The report reasons that using magnets in first-party cases suggests that Google won’t build the magnets into its actual smartphones. While this is very possible – arguably likely, given that it is a be a trend among Android smartphone makers – it’s not conclusive proof by any means.
Beyond the phone and its cases, the report goes on to say that Google will have two wireless charging accessories, one with a magnetic puck at the end of a cable like Apple’s MagSafe charger, while the other is a stand that houses this puck. Prior reporting revealed the names for these would be “Pixelsnap Charger” and “Pixelsnap Charger with Stand.” Google would apparently also release a first-party USB-C charger with two ports.
