Well, here we are again. According to new firmware, reports regarding Samsung’s use of Snapdragon chips for the US variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may be incorrect.
Reports have been back and forth for months regarding what chip Samsung would use in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Some have said it would use Exynos globally. Others have said Snapdragon will still be used. Most recently, a report claimed that Samsung will use Exynos chips in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in many regions, including Korea, but that other regions, including the US, will use Snapdragon.
Now, new evidence suggests that is not the case.
SamMobile found evidence in Galaxy Z Flip 7 firmware that suggests the use of an Exynos chip. The publication didn’t share its findings beyond saying that “Galaxy Z Flip 7 firmware for the US makes it pretty clear that the processor inside the phone is the Exynos 2500.”
This isn’t exactly a smoking gun, but it certainly leaves the door open to Exynos in the States, something Samsung hasn’t done on a flagship-tier device in quite some time.
Whatever the case may be, firm details should be coming any time now, as we’re barely a month away from this launch.
