Xiaomi’s ‘Tensor moment’ nears, with first ‘XRING’ powered devices launching May 22

Right as it signs a deal with Qualcomm for the use of Snapdragon chips, Xiaomi has just confirmed that it will use its own XRING 01 chip in its next smartphone and tablet release.

Xiaomi revealed last week that it would be launching its own smartphone chipset, the XRING 01, in future devices. This opened the door to questions around how the company would still use Snapdragon chips, as nearly every high-end Xiaomi device has been using Qualcomm’s offerings for years. We got an answer earlier today, as Xiaomi and Qualcomm announced a “multi-year” deal to continue using Snapdragon chips in the company’s smartphones.

Essentially at the same time as that announcement, the company has also confirmed its first devices using its own chip.

In a post on Weibo, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun confirmed that XRING 01 will power both the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra. Jun adds that XRING 01 has entered mass production and will be built on a 3nm process.

Both of these devices will be announced on May 22.
