Google rolling out ‘Find Hub’ update on Android

As announced at The Android Show: I/O Edition last week, Google is more widely rolling out the “Find Hub” update that rebrands “Find My Device.”

Version 3.1.337-2 introduces the new “Find Hub” branding for the Android app, which previously appeared as “Find Device” on homescreens. By being shorter, Google can consistently use the same name across all surfaces. Overall, this move (which includes the “Find Hub Network”) reflects how the app is now both for finding devices and your family or friends.

Besides that change, the “Beta” label has been removed from the “People” tab after two or so months of testing.

Meanwhile, when tapping the “Settings” item in the account menu, you’re taken to a list with “Find Hub” and “Google Location Sharing.” Previously, the app took users immediately to the latter system page.

This Find Hub update on Android is now widely rolling out via the Google Play Store.

Branding for the website, with a navigation rail for Devices and People, has yet to be updated.

Looking ahead, Find Hub will soon leverage ultra-wide band (UWB) on the Moto Tag and compatible phones for precise tracking and finding that includes direction and distance. As of this app update, we’re not seeing that live yet.

The big update “later this year” will let supported devices use satellite connectivity for finding and location sharing when cellular isn’t available.
