After a rocky launch last year, the Google Find My Device app is getting rebranded to “Find Hub” and is bringing with it a number of new features, including built-in luggage finding.
The idea behind the updated Find Hub app is to make it simpler to keep track of even more of your possessions. Google is achieving this by building a portfolio of growing partners who are integrating their devices and tags into the Find Hub experience. This means more options than the basic tracker tags that have been available for sale from the likes of Pebblebee and Chipolo.
We can expect luggage with built-in finding capabilities from brands like Mokobara, or specialized tags like those from Peak that can help keep your ski equipment secure. Later in the year you will also be able to pickup Disney-themed Bluetooth tags from Pixbee. For those with the moto tag, you will get UWB tracking within the updated application later this month.
Location sharing has also been updated with the application to allow you to share your real-time location with contacts, friends, or family. When active, you will be able to see profile images of those contacts within the “People” tab of the Find Hub application alongside any contacts currently hidden from the map view.
To improve this feature, later this year, satellite connectivity will also be available for location sharing with supported devices and carriers. This will allow you to share your location even in areas with no coverage and could be a valuable safety tool as part of the Find Hub system.

Google has also announced that through partnerships with Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, and Singapore Airlines, you will be able to share tracker location to help find lost luggage and prevent your things from going missing while travelling.
