What’s new in Google Home 3.32 for Android, iOS

Google now offers release notes for the Home app on Android and iOS, with the version 3.32 update introducing several new features and bug fixes.

Google distinguishes between what’s generally available and what requires the Public Preview. With the latter, not everything mentioned is widely available yet.


Features

  • Cameras: Improved performance for original Nest Cam, Nest Cam Outdoor, and Nest Hello Doorbell devices [Public Preview]: Reduced video and audio failures when uploading to the Home app, increased speed of event uploads, and also improved video encoding quality and bit rates.
  • Smoke/CO alarm integration: Manage your Nest Protect and compatible 3rd party smart smoke/CO alarms within the Google Home app, including notifications and settings.
  • Lock enhancements [Public Preview, iOS]: Expanded smart lock features including battery status, privacy mode, one-touch locking, guest access, and more.
  • New automation editor [Public Preview, Android]: Easily create more flexible Household Routines with the new automation editor. Learn more on how to manage home automations in Google Home.
  • More Favorites: Added more options for Favorites. You can now Favorite “All lights,” a home temperatures widget, and several common Wifi actions, including share password.

Bug Fixes

  • Device setup crash: Fixed a crash that occurred during setup of devices on iOS.
  • Web view navigation issue: Fixed an issue on iOS where users were unable to navigate away from the Google Home for web view.
  • Missing Smoke & CO tile: Resolved an issue where the Smoke & CO tile was missing in the Android app.
  • Custom room flow [Public Preview]: Corrected the “Add custom room” flow in the Smoke & CO settings on iOS to match requirements.
  • Notification settings display [Public Preview]: Fixed an issue where notification settings were shown as enabled even when disabled on iOS and Android.
  • Unlock feedback delay [Public Preview]: Reduced the delay when unlocking doors, providing a faster visual response in the app.
  • Passcode keyboard overlap [Public Preview]: Corrected an issue where the lock passcode keyboard overlapped the bottom navigation bar on iOS.

Unmentioned today is how Google Home 3.32 tweaks Dynamic Color (still in preview) on Android to be a bit more vibrant, especially with the dark theme enabled.

Version 3.32 is widely available via Google Play (as of yesterday) and the App Store.
