Google Home app fixes bug that repeatedly asked to ‘Set up Nest Cam features’ for Nest Hub Max [U]

An ongoing issue in the Google Home app is repeatedly prompting some users to “Set up new Nest Cam features for Nest Hub Max,” despite not actually doing anything.

If you’ve seen a pop-up in the Google Home app over the past few weeks regarding “new Nest Cam features for Nest Hub Max,” you’re not alone.

Update 4/30: Google has apparently fixed this bug. We can confirm it hasn’t appeared in our use since this post was initially published on April 8.

Google first started rolling out support for the Nest Hub Max’s built-in Nest Cam in the Home app late last year, which is what this pop-up is designed for. Users are supposed to be prompted to move the Max’s camera into the Home app from the Nest app, as was the case for other older Nest Cam models over the past couple of years.

But this pop-up is now showing errantly for users who have already moved the camera over. Personally, I started noticing this pop-up within the past two weeks, but some have been seeing it for longer. Users on Reddit have been talking about this for roughly a month, and Artem Russakovskii on Twitter/X (founder of APK Mirror) also noted he’s been seeing the same thing, with others chiming in that they’ve been seeing the same behavior.

It’s unclear what’s causing the bug, but with many users affected, it’s likely only a matter of time before Google issues a fix. Are you seeing this pop-up?
