Galaxy S21 next in line to get ‘early’ One UI 7 update

Samsung seems to have just gotten ahead of schedule with its One UI 7 release, adding the Galaxy S21 to the list of devices with the new update. This comes as other flagship Galaxy phones have just received the update before they were expected to.

“Early” is subjective in the most basic sense, considering Samsung has changed the schedule several times, dictating which devices were going to get One UI 7 and when. In the latest schedule, the Galaxy S21 was expected to see One UI 7 in May, with no specific date mentioned.

That’s no longer the case, and the Galaxy S21 is starting to get One UI 7 updates in Korea (via @tarunvats33). This is the first step on a global tour, and users in the US and Europe should see the upgrade soon, though it won’t be immediate. The update is just over 3GB in size.

This release follows the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S10 series getting One UI 7 updates. Those devices got the same slightly early treatment and received the update before the latest schedule expected them to.

It’s also worth noting that this One UI 7 update for the will be the last major OS upgrade for the Galaxy S21. The device was released in 2021 and is approaching the end of its supported life. The device was only slated to see four years of Android support and five years of security updates. At that point, it’s always worth checking out Samsung’s latest trade-in deals for the newest flagship, the Galaxy S25.

The One UI 7 update should reach more markets soon, but there’s no definite release schedule available on a regional scale.
