Motorola’s new earbuds are covered in crystals while latest smartwatch ignores Wear OS

Motorola is adding to its “Things” lineup with two new products, the Moto Buds Loop and the Watch Fit, which will release at some point, for some amount of money.

The new Moto Buds Loop are the company’s first open-ear earbuds, an increasingly common form factor. Buds Loop offer sound tuned by Bose and a fit that attaches to the side of your ear to leave enough room for outside sounds to come through while still listening to music.

Motorola is offering a “Trekking Green” color option that’s pretty simple in its look, but one of the things Motorola is focusing in on is a “French Oak” color which is adorned with Swarovski crystals, leaving the Moto Buds Loop looking similar to an earring. Motorola claims 8 hours of playback from the earbuds, and up to 37 hours with the case.

Meanwhile, the Moto Watch Fit is also in the pipeline with a square 1.9-inch OLED display, support for 22mm bands, and sensors that can handle health tracking and has over 100 different sports tracking modes. It features 16-day battery life, which should be enough to tell most that this smartwatch doesn’t run Wear OS, instead opting for a custom RTOS. A shame, but it probably means the price will be pretty affordable.

We can only speculate on that because, as of now, Motorola hasn’t announced anything regarding pricing or a release date in the US for either of these products. They’ll launch in “select countries” over the Summer, with the Watch launching first.
