As the rollout continues, Google is making Veo 2 more prominent in Gemini’s prompt bar, with the web app also seeing other tweaks today.
Gemini has moved Veo 2 from the model picker to the “prompt bar” — as Google has previously called it — alongside Deep Research and Canvas. Each has an icon and hovering over provides a description:
- Deep Research: Get in-depth answers
- Canvas: Create docs and code
- Veo 2: Generate videos from text
Old vs. new

Tapping changes the prompt bar hint from “Ask Gemini” to “Describe your video.” This makes more sense than having Veo 2 appear alongside the other general-purpose models, while shortening that picker. On desktop web, this approach aids visibility with a lot of horizontal space before needing to implement a carousel. That said, on mobile, the screen is not wide enough and Veo 2 is behind an overflow menu.
Meanwhile, Gemini today updated the desktop ‘plus’ menu. “Image” has been combined with “Upload files,” while it’s now “Add from Drive.” “Code folder” is unchanged from before. On mobile web, you have the “Camera” shortcut.
There are currently no changes to the Android and iOS apps.
