YouTube Music starts rolling out lyrics sharing on Android

YouTube Music is building upon real-time lyrics (from 2023) by adding the ability to share them as a nice graphic in the mobile app.

Open the Lyrics tab for a new pill-shaped “Share” button at the bottom. (It’s a bit prominent, but shouldn’t interrupt the viewing experience too much.) This will take you to a “Select lyrics” interface that lets you tap to select lines. Hit “Next” once you’re done.

The “Share lyrics” page lets you choose different backgrounds from a color carousel. Album artwork, song name, and artist appear in the top section, while there’s a YouTube Music logo at the bottom. The final stage is a share sheet to “Save image” or “Share with other apps.”

So far, there’s just one report of this lyrics sharing capability in YouTube Music for Android. It’s not live on devices we checked today. Hopefully, the rollout will be a bit faster than the November 2024 Now Playing redesign, which some users have but is otherwise not yet fully launched.
