Lenovo shows off its next 8.8-inch Legion Tab with vague AI promises [Gallery]

Lenovo’s Legion Tab (Gen 3) only hit the global market a few short months ago, but a new generation is already in the works and has just been shown off for the first time.

The new fourth-generation Lenovo Legion Tab, or Y700 as it’s referred to in China, has shown up in a new teaser video. The tablet has the white finish that’s not available internationally and drops from two rear cameras down to just one. It still retains the same 8.8-inch display, though.

There’s not much revealed in this teaser, though an image posted to Weibo teases that the tablet is “thinner” and “lighter” than the third generation. The video also confirms it has a “new Snapdragon” inside, almost certainly referring to Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Through all of the teasers, though, Lenovo refers to the tablet in the context of AI. The inevitable mention sees Lenovo hinting at some “AI combat support,” presumably meaning this tablet will leverage AI to assist players in their games. This is something that’s been popping up in other gaming products for a while now. All of the teasers we could find about the AI capabilities are rather vague, though.

Lenovo hasn’t yet released this next-gen Legion Tab in China, but it’s expected to launch in May.
