Samsung Good Lock is now available via the Play Store as global launch begins

As promised, Samsung has released its Good Lock customization app to the Play Store this week, with a global launch also beginning.

In January, Samsung announced that it would be launching a redesigned Good Lock to the rest of the world after restricting its availability for years, as well as bringing the app to the Google Play Store, where it’s previously only been in the Galaxy Store. The new Good Lock app later arrived with a major and very much needed new design to go with One UI 7.

Now, Good Lock is available through the Play Store.

With an April 10 update being its most recent, Good Lock is now generally available through the Play Store for Galaxy owners running One UI 7 or higher. The app’s Play Store listing has been updated with its new design – which is what gets installed, as we’ve tested on a Galaxy S25 Ultra – though the description is still out of date. The “Early Access” banner that appeared in mid-2024 is also no longer in place. The app’s listing shows a “release date” of January 20, but we’ve been unable to confirm whether or not the app has been available for download this long. That date is prior to the redesign’s release, though.

The Play Store, notably, doesn’t show Galaxy S24 and other Galaxy devices other than the S25 series as a compatible install target when installing remotely, but we’ve been able to install the app directly when using Galaxy S24 Ultra (on the One UI 7 stable release), but a Galaxy Z Fold 6 (also on the stable release) is blocked.

This comes as Samsung appears to be starting its global expansion of Good Lock. SamMobile spotted that the app is now available for download in Romania, a region where it was previously not available. That’s not quite proof that Samsung has launched the app on a fully global scale, but it does suggest that the expansion is beginning.

Meanwhile, though, Samsung has abruptly halted the rollout of One UI 7 (required to use this new version of Good Lock) on older Galaxy devices.
