OnePlus Watch 3 returns but now costs $499, a 50% price hike

After being delayed to fix the “Meda in China” typo, the OnePlus Watch 3 is once again available for purchase, but with a huge change to its price.

The OnePlus Watch 3 was first announced in February with a compelling package. Upgraded hardware, 5-day battery life (120 hours), and a more capable health suite too. The Watch 3 was originally supposed to go on sale weeks ago, but ended up being delayed due to a typo on the bottom of the casing that said the smartwatch was “Meda in China.” OnePlus offered free returns to anyone who wanted one, and then pushed the release date back while pausing pre-orders.

Now, the OnePlus Watch 3 is back on sale through the company’s online store for $499.99.

Didn’t OnePlus initially announce that Watch 3 would be $329?

Indeed it did, even offering a $30 discount for early buyers to take the price down to $299. But now, the new price for the smartwatch is $499. That’s a price hike of more than 50% from the previous $329 retail price, and over 65% over the previous $299 entry price for pre-orders.

We asked OnePlus about the altered price and whether or not it was a mistake, but the company did not have “any additional comment to share at this time.”

The obvious explanation here surrounds the ongoing US tariff situation. While tariffs were paused for 90 days for most countries, extremely high tariffs on (and from) China remain in place. With the OnePlus Watch 3 coming from China, it is subject to those tariffs, and this price hike is very likely a result of that.

So far, other OnePlus devices have not seen altered pricing.
