Report: Samsung cuts down Galaxy S25 Edge launch, initially only in Korea and China

After a mysterious delay recently, Samsung is reportedly planning to only launch the Galaxy S25 Edge in Korea and China at first, a drastic change.

Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 Edge at its big Unpacked event in January, and has since shown the device in person at MWC 2025. That’s what it came as a surprise that Samsung abruptly delayed the Galaxy S25 Edge launch at the last minute. Apparently, it’s due to a technical issue of some sort, but it’s hard to say for certain.

Now, more information is coming out that suggests Samsung will heavily restrict the launch of the Edge at first.

Max Jambor shared a post from leaker Ice Universe on Weibo – the leaker’s Twitter/X account was recently hacked – which claims that Samsung is on track to release the Galaxy S25 Edge in May (another recent leak claims a launch on May 13), but that the company will initially restrict sales to South Korea and China.

That’s a big change as Samsung teased the device to the global market (something it generally does not do for regional launches) and we’ve seen leaks regarding pricing for Europe. The post doesn’t rule out a global launch, but it’s probably not a great sign that Samsung is potentially making this restriction out of the gate.
