Lenovo’s next 8.8-inch Android tablet may have Snapdragon 8 Elite and other upgrades

Lenovo’s Legion Tab series continues to pump out more small but powerful Android tablets for gaming, with the company reportedly gearing up to launch another 8.8-inch device that’s powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The Lenovo Legion Tab (Gen 3) is also known as the “Y700” in China. The latest model was the first to go on sale in the US when it launched earlier this year, but it made its debut overseas in October 2024 as the Lenovo Y700 (2025).

Despite that timing, though, another new model is reportedly incoming with some big upgrades.

Digital Chat Station on Weibo reports that Lenovo is working on a new Legion Tab set to launch sometime in Q2 2025 (presumably only in China at first) which is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The current model is powered by 2024’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Elite upgrade delivers a lot more power for gaming in particular, making it an appealing option for a gaming-focused tablet.

Other upgrades on this new Legion Tab would apparently include a newer LCD display that still measures 8.8-inches in size. The tablet would also have a bigger battery and be thinner than the existing model which is 7.6mm thick. The tablet would also get upgraded dual X-axis vibration motors as well as dual speakers.

It’s unclear when, if at all, this upgraded version would be available in the US and other regions.
