Pixel Camera Social Share loses WhatsApp shortcut

In recent weeks, Pixel Camera users have noticed that the WhatsApp Social Share shortcut is no longer available.

Social Share lets you swipe up — long-press for Locked Folder — on the circular gallery preview next to the shutter button to quickly send photos and videos. You can set up to three apps, with Quick Share also available.

From Camera Settings, you can set what apps you want to appear. WhatsApp was previously one of the Social Share options, but it disappeared earlier this month (as of Pixel Camera 9.8). Meta’s Instagram (for Stories) remains available, so this is presumably a bug.

This is not the first time this happened. It previously disappeared from Social Share in 2021 and was restored with a subsequent WhatsApp update. A fix is hopefully coming soon, but it’s not here as of version 2.25.6.74 (stable).
