Samsung’s Android XR headset reportedly beats Apple Vision Pro displays

According to a new report, Samsung’s upcoming Android XR headset will best the Apple Vision Pro on perhaps one of its most well-received aspects, the display.

The Elec reports that Samsung will be using OLEDOS (OLED on Silicon) displays on “Project Moohan,” its upcoming Android XR headset that was “unveiledat MWC 2025 earlier this week.

The displays will apparently be 1.3-inch panels with 3,800 PPI. For context, the typical flagship smartphone is around 500-600 PPI. Meta Quest 3 is just over 1,200 PPI, while Apple Vision Pro nears 3,400 PPI. Apple Vision Pro uses the same OLEDOS technology for its super-sharp displays, with the 1.42-inch panels being produced by Sony.

Samsung’s “Project Infinite” displays would still fall short of another comparably-sized Sony panel which hits over 4,000 PPI. That Sony panel looks to cost over $1,000 USD (for a sample version), the report brings out, hinting that Samsung’s headset probably won’t come cheap just based on the cost of components. Apple Vision Pro displays are said to cost around $300 each. Meta is also said to be looking to adopt OLEDOS, the report brings out, but in a more cost-conscious way.

“Project Moohan” is confirmed to launch later this year.
