Ahead of its upcoming launch, another batch of Pixel 9a leaks have hit the web, primarily showcasing the purple color of Google’s mid-range device.
Posted by Evan Blass on a private Twitter/X account, more Pixel 9a leaks show the upcoming device in what appear to be official marketing materials. Much of what’s shown isn’t new or surprising, with mentions of Gemini, various Google services, Feature Drops, and the rest of the Pixel ecosystem. There’s also a Theft Detection cameo.
Rather, the main focus here is on the Pixel 9a in its new purple color, expected to be called “Iris.” We can see that color compared to the rest of the lineup, and in various environments too.
The other new tidbit is a much better look at the camera bump, or lack thereof, on Pixel 9a. The camera protrudes just a tiny bit out of the back of the device, akin to smartphones from the mid-late 2010’s rather than what we’re used to seeing today.
This is presumably because the Pixel 9a is thicker, which also leaves room for a bigger battery.
Google is expected to announce the Pixel 9a later this month. The most recent rumor places the release date as March 26.
