Samsung will finally release Android 15 for Galaxy devices in April, nearly 6 months late

After countless delays, Samsung has finally set a release date for its Android 15 update, One UI 7.

Google first released Android 15 in September 2024, and the update has since made its way to plenty of other devices, including Pixels and devices from brands such as OnePlus and more. Samsung has, for the past few years, been accelerating its adoption of new Android OS updates, generally getting that new version to its last-gen Galaxy devices within 1-3 months. Samsung released its first Android 14 update on October 30, 2023, less than a month after the first Google Pixel update.

But that didn’t happen this year, as Samsung was heavily delayed in getting Android 15 to Galaxy users.

The first beta update for Galaxy S24 didn’t arrive until December, and Samsung has only just now expanded its beta program to more devices. Despite launching One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 series and, more recently, the latest Galaxy A devices, Samsung was quiet for months regarding the wider rollout of the update.

Now, we’re finally getting a release date for Samsung’s Android 15 update.

In a blog post, Samsung says that it will release One UI 7 with Android 15 to older Galaxy devices “starting” in April, over a month from now and over 6 months after the initial release.

The official update of One UI 7 will be available starting in April.

One UI 7 is a major update, so it’s not surprising that it was delayed, but the nearly 6-month delay was unexpected, and quite frustrating for users. In any case, that wait finally has an end date.

Are you looking forward to One UI 7?
