A new update to the Waze app on Apple CarPlay is making it much easier to navigate home or to work with just the press of a single button.
Rolling out with the latest Waze updates for iOS, the navigation app’s CarPlay experience is adding a new shortcut button to the main UI which allows drivers to quickly launch navigation to their home or work addresses. This shortcut lives above a new Search shortcut button, both of which are found alongside the incident reporting option and the speedometer.
These new shortcuts make it considerably easier to access these functions more quickly, as they were previously hidden in another menu.
As AutoEvolution points out (in over-the-top fashion), this shortcut previously resided within the auto-hiding bar at the top of the Waze app for CarPlay. By moving it to the main screen, it’s just a lot easier to use which is always a good thing behind the wheel. The Search UI itself is unchanged.
These buttons disappear when navigation is active, and the search button returns back to that top bar.
